Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling hall, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights many luxuries in addition to the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
